BRK.B – BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC. (HQ: USA/Industry: Diversified Financial Services)
Berkshire Hathaway is a holding company owning subsidiaries engaged in numerous diverse business activities. The most important of these are insurance businesses conducted on both a primary basis and a reinsurance basis, a freight rail transportation business and a group of utility and energy generation and distribution businesses. Berkshire also owns and operates numerous other businesses engaged in a variety of manufacturing, services, retailing and other activities.

Berkshire stock has outperformed the S&P500 for the past year and is up since the beginning of 2022 while the market has sold off. With the Berkshire having an ownership and investments in more than 100 diverse businesses, it is similar to buying a mutual fund or ETF. To value the business at their current market price the company would need more than a 14% per year growth for the next 10-years.

ROP – ROPER TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (HQ: USA/Industry: Industrial Conglomerates)
Roper Technologies is a diversified technology company. The company operates businesses that design and develop software (both license and Software-as-a-Service) and engineered products and solutions for a variety of niche end markets.

Though Roper Technologies stock prices is down almost 10% year to date, it still sells at a premium. To value the business at their current market price the company would need more than a 16% per year growth for the next 10-years.

CIX – COMPX INTERNATIONAL INC. (HQ: USA/Industry: Commercial Services & Supplies)
CompX International is a leading manufacturer of security products used in the recreational transportation, postal, office and institutional furniture, cabinetry, tool storage, healthcare and a variety of other industries. The company is also a leading manufacturer of stainless steel exhaust systems, gauges, throttle controls, wake enhancement systems and trim tabs for the recreational marine industry. Its products are principally designed for use in medium to high-end product applications where design, quality and durability are valued by our customers.

Since CompX’s price jump in March 2021 the stock has remained relatively flat since, and has outperformed the S&P500 during this time. To value the business at their current market price the company would need more than a 12% per year growth for the next 10-years.

LXP – LXP INDUSTRIAL TRUST (HQ: USA/Industry: Equity Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs))
LXP Industrial is a real estate investment trust (REIT), focused on single-tenant warehouse/distribution real estate investments. A majority of the company’s properties are subject to net or similar leases, where the tenant bears all or substantially all of the costs, including cost increases, for real estate taxes, utilities, insurance and ordinary repairs. Along with certain leases where the landlord is responsible for certain operating expenses.

LXP Industries stock has been on a mostly steady growth over the last 2-years, although the S&P500 has slightly outperformed it during this time, but over the last year LXP Industries has greatly outperform the index. To value the business at their current market price the company would need more than a 9% per year growth for the next 10-years.

EPR – EPR PROPERTIES (HQ: USA/Industry: Equity Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs))
EPR Properties is a real estate investment trust (REIT). The company is a leading net lease investor in experiential real estate, venues which create value by facilitating out of home leisure and recreation experiences where consumers choose to spend their discretionary time and money. While focusing its underwriting of experiential property investments on key industry and property cash flow criteria, as well as the credit metrics of its tenants and customers.

EPR has not done much better than the S&P500 for the last year, however, year to date the stock is up about 20% on the index. With the market fairly valuating the stock, as it currently trades at a price equal to it margin of safety intrinsic value.
